IALA Guarani: Farmer-to-Farmer Social Movements Take Root in Paraguay
Member organizations of LVC are building 40 agroecology schools, ranging from informal farmer training centers to more formal universities. The Latin American Institute of Agroecology (IALA) Guarani, a non-profit training institution that provides free education to peasant farmers and members of the Latin American Coordinator of Farm Organizations (CLOC) and La Via Campesina South America, is raising $20,000 to support the development of an education center in Paraguay. The funds generated in this campaign will help will train dozens of farmers, including 37 agroecology university students. Additionally, this campaign will support the establishment of an aquaculture training program, training center and yearlong agroecology activities.
