This July, let’s mobilize to demand and build #FoodSystems4People | La Via Campesina

LA VIA CAMPESINA CALLS UPON ITS MEMBERS TO ORGANIZE IN JULY, COUNTER THE UN FOOD SYSTEMS SUMMIT AND BUILD #FoodSystems4People!

The UN Food Systems Summit 2021 has been hijacked by Corporate Interest and aims to lay the foundation for an agribusiness take over of agriculture in the coming decades .

La Via Campesina rejects it and has also called for a total boycott of this UN Food Systems Summit. [Read our position paper here.]

NOT IN OUR NAMES! NOT AGAIN!

We are among our communities, working in our territories but we will not remain silent and let the Corporations define our food systems.

We will join forces with civil society and social movements worldwide to organize a Counter Summit on 25, 26 and 27 July 2021.

At the counter-summit, we – the organized peoples, peasants, fisherfolk, indigenous people, pastoralists, agricultural wage labourers, landless, women, youth and people of all diversities – will reaffirm our historical solutions that we have been building based on the principles of food sovereignty. Food Sovereignty through peasant agroecological methods of production offers the pathway for a radically different food system that can bring social justice and fight hunger.

HOW CAN YOU JOIN JULY MOBILIZATIONS?

The current pandemic-induced restrictions will not allow us to assemble in person, but we can continue to show our strength through decentralized and virtual actions in our territories!

GLOBALIZE THE STRUGGLE, GLOBALIZE HOPE!

We must share the struggle and make our denouncement visible. Please share the details, including the images and videos of your action, demonstrations and webinars, with our communications team. You can email the details to lvcweb@viacampesina.org
