International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women
#LaViaCampesina #25Nov #PopularPeasantFeminism
Peasant women, women workers and indigenous women routinely experience two forms of domination: class exploitation and gender oppression, often manifesting as physical violence. The struggle for women’s emancipation should go hand in hand with the struggle to combat violence against women within their homes, in their farms and public spaces. At the same time,we need to strengthen the struggles for the right to land and territory, for agrarian reform, struggles against the transnationals, against genetically-modified organisms and pesticides, struggles for the end of mining activities, etc.
In Srilanka, from the 22-25 November peasant and indigenous women from Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe are meeting to exchange on the context of their struggles and study together, develop a process of resistance, of struggle against the combined assault of capitalism and patriarchy. They will also take joint actions on 25 November to mark La Via Campesina’s International Campaign to Combat Violence against women. Show your support by sharing these posters far and wide.
