Europe: ECVC calls for recognition of all diversities in CFS Voluntary Guidelines

Throughout June, various ECVC members have been actively involved in the ongoing negotiations on the Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment at the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS), through the Civil Society and Indigenous Peoples’ Mechanism (CSIPM, formerly CSM).

The CSIPM has released a statement and carried out public action to call for the recognition of all diversities in the Voluntary Guidelines. You can read the full statement and see more pictures of the event on their website.

In this context, ECVC expresses support and solidarity with the global gender and sexual diverse community and demands an intersectional approach to agricultural policy that guarantees equal rights for all small and medium-scale farmers, especially those of the LGBTQI+ community.

For more information on the negotiations and the participation of ECVC farmers, you can also follow the CSIPM (formerly CSM) on Twitter.
