Thanks for the solidarity with Haitian peasants

 

Dear Friends of La Vía Campesina,

Through this letter La Vía Campesina would like to thank all of the people and organizations that responded to our call of economic solidarity to support our Haitian comrades in the reconstruction process of the country, after the brutal earthquake almost 3 months ago.

La Vía Campesina during these past 3 months has received a total of 30,369.30 Euros in the bank account opened for making donations. After analyzing Haiti`s situation following the earthquake, and establishing that the current priority is confronting the food shortage, Vía Campesina’s coordination in Haiti has decided to use the totality of the funds for buying maize, frijol and legume seeds to be planted this rainy season which started in the month of March.

Thank you for your committed solidarity and trust in La Vía Campesina.
