Police attack and repression on workers and farmers are intensified after the first "Mass People's Resistance against KorUS FTA" on 22nd of November. Up to date over police issued summons and warrants of arrests to more than 170 workers and farmers who joined the first "Mass People's Resistance against KorUS FTA".

(Asuncion, 29 November 2006) The Paraguayan Supreme Court has declared the extraordinary cassation request submitted by Lic. Fabio Daniel Baez Acosta, the defense lawyer of Alfredo Lautenschlager and Herman Schlender, as inadmissible. This means they will have to fulfill the sentence that was confirmed by the Appellation Tribunal of Encarnación and go to jail for two years for causing general risks and homicide. The sentence was confirmed without suspension.

La Via Campesina is joining Assembly of the Poor in Thailand in the struggle against the construction of large dams and to achieve our food sovereignty.

Large dams have forced 80 million peoples from their land in the past six decades. Indigenous, tribal, and peasant communities have been hard hit. These legions of dam refugees are in the great majority of the cases, economically, culturally, and psychology devastated.

Oaxaca, Mexico, is currently the target of massive state-led repression, in n attempt to exterminate the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca APPO), which is a legitimate movement composed of social organizations, peasants, indigenous people, trade unions, neighborhood organizations, and teachers, which demands the removal of Oaxaca state governor Ulises Ruiz, as well as a profound political reform and public policies that would favor sectors of society who have traditionally been excluded.
